Hi Everyone!
Usually when you hear the word "mantra", we think of the word "Ohm" used in meditation, and therefore we associate that with Hindu or Buddhist Spirituality.
What I am talking about though, is a more modern approach to a one-word-version of an affirmation. As you know, affirmations are simple, short statements that describe a powerful, positive thought you are trying to have to increase overall positive thinking and self-talk.
Mantras can be used the same way.
For example the word - the Mantra - "Relax" repeated a few times during a tense situation, or just to ease the everyday stress, we can fall under, can ease your physical tension, especially if combined with deep, controlled breathing.
Try the following exercise:
1. Sit comfortably with both feet on the floor.
2. Relax your shoulders, sit upright, but leaning against the sturdy back of the chair.
3. Close your eyes.
4. Breathe in deeply.
5. Speak your mantra "Relax" as you exhale, loosening the muscles in your thighs.
6. Breathe in deeply.
7. Say "Relax" as you exhale, loosening your back muscles.
8. Breathe in deeply.
9. Say "Relax" as you exhale, loosening you your neck muscles
10. Breathe in deeply.
11. Say "Relax" as you exhale, smile softly.
12. Breathe in deeply
13. Say "Relax" as you exhale, open your eyes.
This exercise, can be used with the following words as well:
Gratitude
Acceptance
Love
Release
Have a wonderful day!
